Halloween Weekend 2009 Dumont Dunes

Halloween Weekend 2009 Dumont Dunes

Even with the bad economy Halloween at Dumont Dunes turned out to be a blast for many in 2009.

Before the weekend started we were concerned that the weather was going to make our decision to go to Dumont this year. We are a mere 45 minutes from there and previously we had been having non-stop wind gusting to 50 mph. The dune gods must have been looking out for us because the weather was perfect for duning.

We arrived early Friday morning, unpacked the RZR and headed out to Comp Hill to see what was happening. Looking around we were shocked at how few people attended this year. At first we thought, “Oh it is just early in the weekend”. We seemed to be wrong on this account. I guess the economy has affected quite a few people that regularly hit the dunes.

Anyway we arrived at Comp Hill to find a few wild machines out there. Long travel sand cars, 2 custom made sand cars that looked like top fuel dragsters, a few built prerunners, and a wild Rhino with what sounded like a street bike motor in it. Here are some of the pictures we grabbed while we were there.

We took a few shots of the black Ranger prerunner headed up Comp. With very little tread on his rear tires, we weren’t sure if he was going to make it.
