SNORE 2009 Battle at Primm

The 2009 Lone Kid Racing Battle at Primm race put on by SNORE turned out to be an exciting weekend of racing for racers and spectators.

What makes this race unique is the short lap course that makes it great for watching the race. Within 15 minutes fans can see their favorite racers pass numerous times.

A new feature of this year’s race was part of the race course was made up of the CORR stadium track. If you have seen this track you will know desert race vehicles are not set up for this type of terrain. Large rollers, huge table-top jumps are not something you see in the NevadaDesert.

We were there for the first day of racing on Saturday, and here are some highlights.

Cameron Steele ran both the Heavy Metal class and Unlimited Truck. He took the win in Unlimited Truck with a 2-day overall time of 2:21:21

John Vaughan took 2nd in Unlimited Truck with a 2-day combined time of 2:42:36

Class 1 saw Darin Anderson take the podium with a combined time of 2:22:43

Class 7 saw Robby Woolworth take home 3rd place with a time of 2:48:04.

Bekki Wik took the win for Class 10 with an overall time of 2:26:42

Rob MacCachren raced in the Ford Raptor in Class 8 taking third place, but took home the win for Class ½ 1600 with a time of 2:34:26

The 1450 class as always was the largest group of racers, and Jonathon Libby took the overall win for the weekend with a time of 1:32:19

Here are some more highlights of Saturday’s racing.

Overall it was a great start for the 2009 SNORE racing series. We are looking forward to their next race the Mint 400. This year will be a huge party under the canopy of the Fremont Street Experience for fans to have a meet and greet with their favorite racers, so be sure to come by.
